The tradition of mechanical engineering in Trnava dates back to 1630 when a bells foundry owned by a group of local businessmen was established in the city . The Fischer family purchased the factory in the 19th century.  The last of the family owners, Adolf Fischer realized the growth opportunity and expanded the production line by manufacture and supply of various spare parts, mainly for sugar processing and agricultural industries.

TOMA’s modern history has been written over the past 48 years. The company was founded on October 1st, 1963 as NP Šmeralove závody and was formed from the mechanical and metallurgical operations of Kovovýroba Trnava. The main task was to ensure production of forming machines.

1963 - Šmeralove závody, Brno, n.p., závod Trnava. Production of forming machines.

1990s - Šmeralov závody n.p. Trnava. Production of eccentric presses ranging from 63 to 1000kN.  In its most productive years, the company produced 1 000 presses while employing 1 000 employees.

1.6.1993 - TOMA, Ing. Štefan Tomášik. The state enterprise is transformed to a private company. The company is managed by its owner Mr. Štefan Tomášik and continues as a direct successor of  ŠMERAL Trnava.

1.1.2006 - TOMA INDUSTRIES, s.r.o. Upon retirement of the owner, the ownership is transferred within the family. Thorough reorganization of the company and internal processes was begun aim at delivering higher production efficiencies, more flexibility and ultimately higher profits for the shareholders.
At the same time the company changed its legal registration and name and is henceforth known as TOMA Industries s.r.o. (LLC). The production of presses and auxiliary equipment is extended by custom manufacturing in order to effectively utilize the capacities mainly on machining.

Nowadays - While maintaining the production and support of our line of forming technologies, the company has shifted the balance towards custom machine manufacturing, supply of machining tools and aftermarket support for third party technologies.  75% of our revenues come from export..
Our forming technologies offer consists of eccentric presses with pressing force from 10 to 100 tons, spare parts, servicing and general retrofitting.
In the custom manufacturing, which contributed more than 70% to the top line in 2010 we offer custom manufacturing of parts, machines and subassemblies according to the technical specifications of our customers.
The company employs 90 employees.

Our offer

We continuously strive to increase the level of our services.  In addition to production and sales of forming technologies; presses, spare parts and automation equipment we offer services in welding, machining, painting and assembly. We also produce parts, subassemblies and completely assembled machines precisely to specification of our customers. Our products are exported worldwide. 

Our factory floor features a complete range of over 80 machines that enable us to build any type, size and complexity of machine our customers require.

Welding

To achieve higher efficiencies and more consistent quality of our welding structures, the management decided to operate it independently from machining and assembly.  These efficiencies enabled purchase of a wide range of technologies which allow us to execute even the most complicated welds We provide welding of most standard materials and stainless steel. Cutting and other material preparation is done on plasma and laser cutters.  All welding is done on semi-automated ESAB welding machines by certified welders. When necessary and according to size and technological requirements we use our own or external shot or sand blasting facility and heat treatment.

Machining

Our machining center includes an extensive collection of both universal, NC and CNC machines. These include large and small Turning and Grinding machines, Machining centers, Vertical Milling and Horizontal drilling machines and etc.

Assembly

Our assembly shop is staffed with an experienced team of professionals for mechanical, electrical and hydraulic assembly. Our 8,000m² assembly shop floor is equipped with overhead cranes with capacity of up to 20 tons and ground clearance of 12m.
